25/03/18 - We've been grounded!
As you all know, SVM has recently undergone a whole stack of changes.
Our first market at the new venue was a raging success and confirmed our hopes that SVM & Addison Rd Community Centre are a match made in heaven.
However, we’re having some teething issues.
In the days before our first market on March 3, we received word from Inner West Council that Addison Rd’s existing development application (DA) didn’t match the requirements for the size of our market. At that late stage, we decided with Addison Rd, to go ahead with the market in order to protect the livelihood of our stall holders. This resulted in a $6000 fine for the community centre.
Since then we’ve all been working hard at getting an appropriate DA in place in time for April and today, after a meeting with several key members of council, we were advised that at best, we would need to wait 100 days before it’s approval.
What that means
At this stage, frustratingly, April, May and June SVM will not go ahead in its current form.
Future stuff
We love our new venue, and are doing all we can to stay there and our thinking caps are well and truly on. We are tossing around a few ideas and will come back to you once we have cemented a new game plan, but rest assured, we have ideas for the next few months that feel exciting!
This sucks, we’ve tried our best to keep SVM running and we are all heart broken but are looking to the future, being kind to ourselves and are remembering that all good things have teething issues and SVM is good, it’s more than good, it’s incredible and we are confident we will get it across the line without any more fines!
As always, thank you for your support and love. It’s what keeps us going. ❤️
